Project Synopsis
The Challenge
Van Arbour Design builds custom cabinetry and furniture for discerning clients in prestigious Vancouver neighbourhoods. However, their workshop is well over an hour’s drive away, and is not set up to receive clients. Yet many of their competitors maintain expensive downtown showrooms.
The Result
Van Arbour Design has chosen to invest in an “online showroom” in the form of a website that features extensive product galleries. This website needed to look as good on an iPad as it did on a desktop. Their clients use this site to refine their needs, and then communicate them to Van Arbour Design. They use the online showroom to discuss ideas and alternatives, and then Van Arbour presents finished sample boards to the client to take the project to the next phase.
This process dramatically speeds up the decision process portion of the sales cycle. Because Van Arbour Design doesn’t need a physical showroom, they save over a $50,000 per year in sample product alone. That doesn’t even factor in the cost of renting and staffing a fancy downtown showroom.
